The basic parameters are: 1. the engine configuration, single cyl, 4 cyl inline, V8 etc. 2. engine & cylinder displacement 3. inlet configuration 4. RPM where you want the resonator to work. The design and orientation of the intake manifold is a major factor in the volumetric efficiency of an engine. Abrupt contour changes provoke pressure drops, resulting in less air (and/or fuel) entering the combustion chamber; high-performance manifolds have smooth contours and gradual transitions between adjacent segments.
